Description

We are seeking a middle school reading teacher who is passionate about literacy and student growth. This position has the potential to transition into a Dyslexia Interventionist role for the 2027–2028 school year. Candidates with an interest in dyslexia instruction or a willingness to obtain dyslexia certification are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Job Description:

The Reading Teacher is responsible for contributing to the educational system as a unit and to the growth of each student in the assigned curriculum area.   

 

Requirements:

A valid Texas teaching certificate (Gen. 4-8, Sec. Reading 6-12, Reading Specialist EC-12 & ELA & Reading 8-12) with the required endorsements for subject/level assignment. Knowledge of assigned subjects and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction. 

 

Application Procedure:

  2. Provide/upload a copy of your college transcript.
  3. Provide/upload a copy of your valid Texas Teacher Certificate.
  4. Provide proof of Identity (Driver's License, Birth Certificate, Passport, or other Federal Documents)
  5. If required, must submit to and pass a biometric (fingerprint-based) background check. 

 Included in the electronic application: 

  • A notice to comply with the requirement for a Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) review via the "DPS FACT" database (included during the enrollment process) per Texas Government Code Sec. 411.097.  
  •  An "Affidavit of Applicant Offered Employment" (included during the enrollment process) must be completed and notarized before a candidate is offered a professional position at N-S CISD.  A notary public is available in the Human Resources office for candidates recommended for employment. This pre-employment requirement complies with TEC 21.009 and local policy.
