This position is located in Smiley, TX at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program campus.
Job Description:
The DAEP Teacher/Coach is responsible for contributing to the educational system as a unit and to the growth of each student in the assigned curriculum area and sport(s). The Teacher/Coach shall assist each student in acquiring knowledge and developing skills in the assigned subject/sport(s) to further realize his or her potential.
Instructional Duties at DAEP:

Provide high-quality instruction in assigned online elective courses for students in grades 3–12, and deliver targeted small-group, in-person instruction within the traditional classroom setting as needed.

Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the individual learning needs of students in a Discipline Alternative Campus setting.

Provide academic support and monitor student progress in an alternative learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience with online learning platforms (e.g., Edgenuity, APEX, Google Classroom).
- Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
Requirements:
You must pass a fingerprint-based background check and have a valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements for subject/level assignment or approved alternative certification. Knowledge of assigned subjects and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

6. If required, you must submit to and pass a biometric (fingerprint-based) background check.
Included in the electronic application:
- A notice to comply with the requirement for a Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) review via the "DPS FACT" database (included during the enrollment process) per Texas Government Code Sec. 411.097.
- An "Affidavit of Applicant Offered Employment" (included in the application process) must be completed and notarized before a candidate is offered a professional position at N-S CISD. A notary public is available in the Human Resources office for candidates who are recommended for employment. This pre-employment requirement complies with TEC 21.009.
